UENPS Strengthens International Collaboration Through Respiratory Care Educational Tour in China

Over 10 days, the Union of European Neonatal & Perinatal Societies (UENPS) travelled across five Chinese cities—Shanghai, Guangzhou, Jinan, Xi’an, and Luoyang—participating in the RSPCRE Respiratory Care Courses and the 2026 China Care Forum.

The educational mission brought together international experts and Chinese healthcare professionals in a comprehensive programme combining lectures, interactive discussions, case-based learning, and hands-on workshops, with the shared goal of advancing neonatal respiratory care through education and scientific collaboration.

The UENPS faculty included Prof. Esin Koç (UENPS President), Prof. Boris Kramer, Prof. Daniele Trevisanuto, and Prof. Giulia Res, while Prof. Charles Christoph Roehr (University of Bristol, United Kingdom) participated as Invited Speaker on behalf of ESPR. Together, they delivered lectures and practical training sessions covering key aspects of neonatal respiratory support, including neonatal resuscitation, non-invasive respiratory support, lung ultrasound, surfactant administration, and the 2025 European Consensus Guidelines on the Management of Respiratory Distress Syndrome.

A distinctive feature of the programme was its strong emphasis on interactive learning. Alongside scientific presentations, participants engaged in case-based discussions and hands-on workshops, creating valuable opportunities for direct exchange between the international faculty and local healthcare professionals and supporting the translation of evidence into everyday clinical practice.

The educational mission concluded at the 2026 China Care Forum in Luoyang, where the UENPS faculty contributed to the scientific programme with keynote lectures, expert panel discussions, and dedicated training workshops, further highlighting the importance of international collaboration in advancing neonatal and perinatal care.
